What the fog hides - and makes possible. See what others don`t see.
Peter Trautwein from Munich has seen this. Often, because he gets around the world. In Eritrea, he also sees a solution to the water problem: fog nets - the extraction of water by rising fog. However, the nets there are only skeletons of themselves. Frayed nets, which are robbed of their function by the merciless weather, and which therefore no longer bring the water to where it is needed. Peter knows that there is a better way. As a successful industrial designer, he takes matters into his own hands. After many trials and adaptations and cooperation with experts, organisations and companies, a sustainable system is created after years that fits. Peter develops a net construction that defies the adversities of nature. However, this task can not be accommoshed alone in the long run.
Peter is founder of aqualonis. After handing over the company, he continues to work for us as a freelance consultant.
Marcus Hitzel, head of an innovation and engineering company in Rödermark, knows technology, responsibility and long-term thinking. At the same time, social commitment has always been important to him. Like Peter, he is concerned with responsibility for those who have fewer opportunities. Throughout his professional career, he has been specifically looking for projects that have a lasting impact. When he learned about Peter`s work, he immediately recognized its importance. Marcus then asked Peter if he would like to share the responsibility in order to further develop the project together.
Marcus brings Michael Kiesling into the team for the implementation. Engineer, CAD professional and practitioner with international experience. Like Peter, Michael has seen a lot of the world. For more than ten years, he led a children´s aid project on the Indonesian island of Nias. There, children and young people found a safe place to grow into independent, capable and thinking people. For Michael, reading, writing and arithmetic are not privilieges, but basic right that must be made possible for every person - just as indispensable as access to clean water.
